Incomplete Weekend To Do List

My weekend to do list of 5 million things did not have many scratch throughs.  Although, I did get more accomplished than last weekend aka the weekend of "yes".

Friday night I picked up an extra shift at work, then went home and crashed.

Saturday morning my bestie and I met at the park for a really hot, quick 2 mile run.  Then, I hit up the 9:30 CrossFit class which was a skill day.  We worked on a lot of core movements (arch rocks, hollow rocks, tucks) and ring stuff (inverted hangs, false grip, and holds).  After all that, we did 100 wall squats and 200 double unders for form, not time.  My calves are so sore from those double unders!

While at CrossFit, my mom had left me a message saying she was at Dillards and they had an extra 30% off all the sale stuff.  I was a sweaty mess, but cannot miss a deal, so my stinky butt went to Dillards.  I bought a couple of dresses and a few shirts.  (I have to take one of the dresses back.  I was so stinky and sweaty that I refused to try it on in the store.  When I put it on at home, it was hideous!)

Eventually, after a trip to Sam's and scarfing down a huge salad, I took a much needed shower. Another trip to the grocery store later, I made guacamole deviled eggs and watermelon margaritas to bring to a barbeque.  The margaritas were a little bit too strong this time around and we didn't even finish one of the 3 pitchers I brought. Needless to say, we ended up at a bar and the night got a little crazy.

Sunday was the usual: lunch at mom and dad's.  The evening was spent doing laundry, poisoning the weeds in my flower beds, cooking for the week (2 new recipes to come!), and watching Contraband.  Oh how I love Mark Walberg.  He is my ultimate celebrity crush!

Things still on my to-do list: clean my bathroom, create a recipage for this blog, return books to the library and get new ones (I'm now overdue 2 days!), make popsicles, replace the flowers in the pots on my front porch.

But this week's schedule is not nearly as crazy as last week, so maybe I'll find the time to get these things done.  Also, since Wednesday is a work holiday, I'm considering using vacation days Thursday and Friday to make for an extra long holiday weekend.

Workout plan for the week:
Monday- 3 mile run   slept through my opportunity :(
Tuesday- 5:30 AM CrossFit
Wednesday- 4 miler on the 4th!
Thursday- SeeFit: Road2theCure mini competition at CrossFit
Friday- 5:30 PM CrossFit (and maybe stand up paddle boarding if I take off work?!)
Saturday- 3 mile run + CrossFit or 5 mile run
Sunday- 3 mile run

Who is your ultimate celebrity crush?  Did you do anything fun and crazy this weekend?

A Weekend With a Saxophone Serenade, Happy Places, and Nostalgia

Another good weekend for the books. :)  Friday night I caught up with a long lost friend over salads and a bottle of wine at Luna.  We were also serenaded by a saxophonist (now a jazz band plays at night?!?), which was right up her ally! She loves the sax and even had a saxophonist play at her wedding!!!  After we said our goodbyes, I met friends for more drinks and didn't fall into bed until 2:00ish.

Saturday morning as hard as I tried, I couldn't sleep past 7:00 AM.  I cooked breakfast (scrambled eggs), CrossFitted, and ran some errands (library and Target included, 2 of my happy places).  The rest of the day was spent poolside with watermelon margaritas.  Then,  dinner and drinks with my sister and roommate followed by a fairly early bedtime.  Well, early for a single 20-something on a Saturday night.

For Father's day on Sunday, we went to church and cooked at my parents' house.  My dad showed me on the front stoop where I had put my hand print when they built the house when I was 3.  He made me put my hand up to it and told me he wished I still was 3....I wish I was 3, too, and my only concern in life was when the ice cream truck was coming.  After lunch and visiting, I returned home to nap, mow, cook, do laundry, and watch the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Why do the weekends go so fast?!

Here is what last weeks workouts looked like:

Monday - run 2 miles
Tuesday - this CrossFit WOD
Wednesday - rest
Thursday - this CrossFit WOD
Friday - this CrossFit WOD
Saturday - run 3 miles  CrossFit
Sunday - run 3 miles or rest

With all those lunges and squats Thursday and Friday, my glutes were so sore!  Saturday's WOD included more squats.  It was really fun.  There were 6 of us at the box and we drew cards to make teams of 2.  I ended up being on a team with my sister.  There were 3 stations - running, squats, and box jumps.  While one team was running 400 m, the other two teams were either squatting or box jumping and counting reps.  Only one team member would squat at a time and box jumps were alternating between team members.  So basically, the faster your team ran, the less time the other teams had to get in reps.  It was a 30 minute AMRAP.  We lost by over 200 reps, but in my eyes no one was a loser because we had our butts at the gym on a Saturday morning (and I had stayed out until 2:00 AM Friday night!).

This is the first time in a long time I actually stuck with my plan!  Well, there were a few modifications, but I got in 5 workouts!!!

This week's plan:

Monday- rest
Tuesday- 3 mile run + at home workout (tabata?)
Wednesday - 3 mile run or at home circuit workout (something I've pinned)
Thursday - CrossFit
Friday - CrossFit
Saturday - CrossFit
Sunday - rest or run or bleachers

I've also food prepped for the week.  Sunday I fell off the Paleo wagon hard.  (Hello corn on the cobb, Texas toast, key lime cake, and BlueBell!) so I have to jump back on today.  In my fridge I have pulled pork, blackened chicken breast, cucumber "seaweed" salad, and squash "noodles".  Recipes for all to come soon!

What was you favorite workout last week?  Anything good on the menu this week?  Where are your happy places?

A Paleo Friendly Cocktail: Watermelon Margarita

Upon adopting a Paleo diet for my CrossFit challenge, I learned the only "legal" alcohols were red wine and 100% agave tequila.

This weekend, I picked up a bottle of tequila with the idea for this cocktail in mind.  It is not low in calories by any means and should be considered a Paleo friendly treat, drank in moderation. (Sorry, I don't practice what I preach!)

Watermelon Margarita
makes 1 pitcher
ingredients
6 cups watermelon chunks
4 large limes, juiced
1 tbsp agave
1/2 bottle of 100% agave tequila

directions
Place half of the watermelon chunks in blender and blend.  Pour the juice in a pitcher.  Do the same with the remaining watermelon and pour in the same pitcher.  Add lime juice, tequila, and agave to the pitcher.  Stir, pour, and let the fun begin!

I made 2 pitchers, which was too much since my sister was on call, my mom and bestie are light weights, and I didn't want to be a lush alone.  The second pitcher was barely touched, so I poured it in a plastic container and froze it.  I can't wait for the weekend so I can take that slushy goodness out of the freezer and slurp it up!

I might start a regular little cocktail installment on the blog, including drinks with only the freshest ingredients.  What do you think?  Would you be interested in ideas for refreshing, healthier drinks?
